Best places to Eat in Costa, Brava Spain (mussels image)

We spent 2 weeks in Costa Brava and dined on some of the most incredible food – EVER!

Costa Brava  covers 2,272 square miles and is comprised of many different villages.  Each village offers a unique coast and gastronomic experience for tourists.  It’s not surprising that many of the dishes come from the sea, but the greater Catalunya area is also famous for vegetables, beef and wine.  This gives the chefs plenty of local ingredients as a palette from which to create their culinary masterpieces.

We visited the seven Official Family Holiday Destinations along the coast and ate at a restaurant in every village and sometimes two. Each restaurant has the Family Tourist Destination seal of the Catalan Tourism Agency, so you know that the restaurants you wish to dine at welcome children, have children’s menus and have highchairs for the little ones.

Now, that is not to say these restaurants are like Red Robin in the states, teaming with screaming toddlers.  All of these restaurants would be perfect for singles or a couple.  They all just welcome children and make accommodations for families.

Best Places to Eat in Costa Brava, Spain:

I initially intended to do one large post and write about all seven of the restaurants at which we dined.  As it turns out, that made for an extremely long article.  Click the links below to read a dedicated article on each restaurant.   Be prepared, you will be drooling after reading the first one!

El Ventall Restaurant in Blanes

We started our culinary journey from the Southern most village of Costa Brava in Blanes.  El Ventall Restaurant is conveniently located between Blanes and Lloret de Mar serving high quality food using seasonal, local ingredients.

Restaurant Aradi – in Platja d’Aro

Restaurant Aradi is located in the heart of Platja d’Aro.  The restaurant has an elegant feel without being stuffy.  You can dine inside or people watch on the outdoor patio.

Clean Paella at Aradi

Can Segura Hotel Restaurant in Sant Feliu de Guíxols

The restaurant in Can Segura Hotel has an adorable beach vibe.  We sat in a cozy corner booth with colorful pillows surrounding the walls.

Restaurant Feliu in Platja d’Aro

The Feliu, founded in 1969,  is one of the oldest restaurants of Platja d’Aro.   The restaurant is family owned and a wonderful place for families to enjoy a meal.

Restaurant Guillermo in Sant Antoni de Calonge

Guillermo is located along the promenade overlooking the water in Sant Antoni de Calonge.   We were able to gaze out the window at the beautiful sea vista, and watch Lucy play and take photographs when she needed a break from the table.

Tiramisu at Restaurant Guillero

Read our Restaurant Guillermo review and enjoy lunch with a view.

Camping Les Medes in Estartit

Dinner at a campground?  Say it ain’t so.  No, it’s not like the US and we weren’t served BBQ chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers.  The food was amazing and didn’t include one squirt of ketchup.

Fish fillet at Camping Les Medes

Make sure to read all about our dinner at Camping Les Medes.

Restaurant Sódemar in Roses

Restaurant Sódemar is located at the water’s edge in the village of Roses.  It’s the perfect location for dining with a view. We were treated to a superb meal and an excellent wine selection as we concluded our culinary journey.   In additional to learning all about the foods and wine, were were given a lesson on cooking paella and even watched the chef prepare our meal.

Don’t miss reading all about our experience at Restaurant Sódemar.  It’s an experience you don’t want to miss!

Those are just seven of the restaurants we dined at while visiting Costa Brava.  I could go on and on with every single restaurant we visited, but these are my families favorites.

Have you had the pleasure of eating in any of these restaurants?  Do you have other suggestions on where to eat in Costa Brava, Spain?  If you need more ideas on family friendly restaurant, visit the Costa Brava Tourism website or stop by when you get to the area.

I recently explored Costa Brava and fell in love with the food and the people. It’s heaven! Travelers should seriously include this part of Spain in their itineraries instead of just Madrid and Barcelona (which are great too).

I completely agree! Barcelona was worth the visit, but getting outside the major cities is a must. Our next visit will take us to Madrid for a few days then we will be off to the smaller villages again.

All of these look great, and although I like seafood, I’m glad that Costa Brava has more than just seafood. I went to Lloret de Mar many years ago and absolutely loved everything about it, especially the friendly people.

Agreed, the people are wonderful! It’s one of the reasons why we loved the area so much – besides all the delicious food :0

Wow it looks like you managed to eat in a real range of restaurants during your visit to the Costa Brava – visiting a different place every night is great and gives you a great insight into the local food.

It all looks gorgeous – but I’d have to pass on all of it but dessert as Ryan has a shellfish allergy! Or I’ll just have to travel solo!

I’ve been to Costa Brava and somehow missed each one of these places. Seeing the pictures reminded me of some of the wonderful things I did have though – I’ll just need to go back.

These photos seem to convey the flavor that must be in them. It makes my mouth water. Based on the review Restaurant Sódemar would be the one I want to try the most.
