Restaurant Aradi – in Platja d’Aro
The second stop on our mission to experience Costa Brava through our taste buds was Restaurant Aradi for dinner.
Restaurant Aradi is located in the heart of Platja d’Aro. The restaurant has an elegant feel without being stuffy. You can dine inside or people watch on the outdoor patio.
Aradi offers many dining choices. You can order a variety of seasonal dishes, select from a fixed “Fruits of the Sea” menu that looks absolutely divine, order off a menu of the day, the Fave menu, a special cuisine Jornades or a standard menu.
K started off with his new favorite food, croquettes. They are little balls of potatoes, chopped vegetables, meat or fish that are covered with breadcrumbs and fried to perfection. Each restaurant makes them differently, adding their own spin on these little bites of goodness.
The staff at Aradi was considerate of Lucy’s temperamental tastes. She ordered fish (usually her favorite) but didn’t like it. Go figure! The fish was excellent. I think she was just overtired and not in the mood for seafood like she thought. They quickly brought her out a bowl of spaghetti bolognese which she promptly devoured.
The adults all choose from the Menu of the Day. Derrick & I both started off with the ensalada de colores con alcachofas a la vinagreta de crudités, artichoke salad. The salad was completely different from any salad I had tried before and was incredibly tasty!
Derrick’s main course was pierna de cordero a la brasa con guarnicion, grilled leg of lamb, and I shared paella de arróz parellada, “clean” paella, with another Mom from our group. The paella was delicious and not having to peel the shrimp or remove the mussels from shells was an added bonus.
Did you know?
Paella is usually served for 2 people? You can find restaurants that make a single serving, but it’s usually a dish to be enjoyed together.
Dessert was crema catalana – similar to a Creme Brulee. It’s one of my favorite desserts from Catalunya. We also had a refreshing glass of local white wine, Peredala Blanc de Blancs 2014. Okay, maybe more than one glass…

The entire family enjoyed our first dinner on the TBEX family tour. Everyone was exhausted after a day of exploring, so it was nice to finish off the evening with a great meal in a relaxing atmosphere. If you need more ideas on where to eat, check out the Platja d’Aro tourism board.

My family was invited as guests to experience the food, atmosphere and family-friendliness of the restaurant. All opinions are 100% my own and may differ from others.
