Family Friendly Accommodations in Costa Brava, Spain

Family Hotels in Costa Brava, Spain

The Costa Brava area of Spain is the perfect choice for families with countless family-friendly accommodations to satisfy all travelers and budgets.  We stayed in three different villages during our recent travels.  Below is a peek at our lodgings and why they are excellent options for families.

Camping Costa Brava in Plaja d’Aro – Valldaro

Valldaro moble home

Valldaro game room

Valldaro is family run and feels more like a little village than your typical campground. In addition to a place to rest your head, you can find 3 swimming pools, 2 supermarkets, a laundry mat, 2 restaurants,  a hair salon and a game room.  There’s even a Zen center to relax and enjoy a massage, waxing or other spa services.

There are numerous  accommodation options at Valldaro. You can pitch a tent, hook up your RV, rent a bungalow or mobile home  or choose to stay in one of the new Fun Tents.  There are many families that return year after year, leaving their RV set up,  waiting for their next vacation on Spain’s sunny coast.

Valldaro dining table

Campin Valldaro kitchen

We enjoyed a 2 bedroom mobile home during our stay. The master bedroom had a surprisingly large bed with lots of storage space. The 2nd bedroom had two single beds – perfect for kids.  The unit also included a bathroom with separate water closet, dining table and fully equipped kitchen. There was also a large porch with table and chairs for outdoor dining and a retractable awning for those hot summer days.

Campin Valldaro Restaurant

We were kept busy during our stay and didn’t get a chance to lounge by the inviting pools or enjoy the mini golf, sports center or playground. But we did get to eat breakfast each morning at the onsite restaurant overlooking the pool, dining on bacon and cheese sandwiches, coffee for the adults and hot chocolate for the kids.

Camping Costa Brava pool

The pool is next to the stage, where entertainment is provided for guests during the summer. We visited Valldaro in May, so we missed out on all the family-friendly activities planned during the summer months.

One of the features I loved about Valldaro is their environmental management system. You will find recycling centers all over the campground to help guests recycle responsibly. Camping Valldaro was one of the first establishments to implement an environmental system and actually had to teach their guests the proper way to recycle when it was established in 2000.

L´Estartit – Hotel Panorama

Hotel Panorama Bathroom

Hotel Panorama rooms

Hotel Panorama is located steps from the beach in the heart of L´Estartit. The rooms are large and the arrangement perfect for our family of four. Our room had 3 beds -2 singles (ideal for separating kids) and 2 single beds pushed together to create 1 queen size bed for parents.  There was ample closet space and a spacious bathroom with tub.  Even with all the beds and furniture in the room, we never felt crowded.

We even had an over-sized balcony with a view of the pool. A great feature on the balcony was the laundry drying rack – perfect for hanging all your towels and bathing suits after spending time in the pool and sea.

Hotel Panorama pool

The pool and playground would have been an amazing place to relax and let the kids play. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to experience any of the family friendly options. We arrived at the hotel late and left first thing the next morning. Maybe on our next trip we can lounge by the pool and let the kids try out the Mini Club.

LLoret de Mar – Rosamar Garden Resort

Rosamar Garden Resort pool

Rosamar Garden Resort is just 200 m from Lloret beach. It has 4 swimming pools, water slides, a soccer arena and mini golf. There is also evening entertainment catering to families and children.

The best features of Rosamar Garden Resort were the pools and water slides. K and Lucy spent hours zipping down the slides and splashing in the water. The large outdoor pool has a gradual decent which is perfect for little ones. There is also an outdoor kiddie pool with a pirate ship, mini slide and bucket that drops water on unsuspecting swimmers.

The white tube slide is designed for guests to ride as a single or double. The kids had an absolute blast riding together and separately. The yellow and blue slides are perfect for racing. Over and over the kids slid down, laughing and taunting the other. We had a difficult time getting them to leave the pool area to explore more of Lloret de Mar.

You’ll also find arcade games, pool tables, air hockey and ping pong tables to keep the kids busy.  K and Lucy went off with Dad while I worked.  When it was time for a break from the sun, he let them play a couple of rounds of pool and a few arcade games (Lucy won a stuffed animal) .

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend the on site buffet.  There are many other restaurants to dine in while in Lloret de Mar that are easier on the budget and with great food.

Rosamar Garden Resort room

The staff at Rosamar Garden Resort were friendly and willing to help with  requests and questions.  K  had a difficult time getting the WiFi code to work on his iPad. He took it downstairs and the front desk set it up for him.

Take a look at the pools in the video created by K, my 10-year old.

Costa Brava (aparthotel in Plaja D”Aro which name I don’t remember) was out first family trip some 14 summers ago- and we loved it! it was affordable, friendly, and we enjoyed seeing new little towns every day while staying in one place for 2 weeks!

That campground sounds like fun and I bet the mobile home was adorable! Spain has been on my mind a lot lately. I don’t know if I’ll take the kids when I go but, if I do, I’ll know where to stay!

I know my kids would love the resort with the slides the most, and our next choice, believe it or not, would probably be the campground, since the lodging has separate bedrooms and a kitchen and that’s what we usually look for when we travel. Thanks for sharing the lodging tips!

Great list of places – Valldaro sounds particularly awesome – we always enjoyed family holidays camping, though there weren’t nearlly as many amenities when I was a kid – I sure would have appreciated a few different swimming pools!

Valldaro and Hotel Panorama are definitely options for couples. We did see many childless couples at Rosamar, but you may be better off at Rosamar Spa. Although, it’s just primarily the pool areas that you find all the kids hanging about. The indoor pool is quiet.
