Royal Caribbean’s newest Oasis Class ship, Utopia of the Seas, set sail in July 2024. The “world’s biggest weekend” mega ship boasts over 40 ways to dine and drink, 4 astounding new shows, and 5 pools to splash the day away. The design of the Utopia of the Seas includes some Oasis Class favorites as well as some new additions such as the Pesky Parrot and Royal Railway. Some of the design features were also taken from the first of her class, Icon of the Seas. Utopia of the Seas blends the best of fleet favorites with new ideas to keep your cruising experience fresh and exciting.
Keeping with the same layout of the Oasis Class ship’s, you’ll still find the 7 original neighborhoods including Central Park, The Boardwalk, and the Royal Promenade plus the new Suite Neighborhood that’s only found on Wonder & Utopia of the Seas.

Utopia of the Seas Pools & Family Fun
Utopia of the Seas has 5 different pools to suit guests of all ages. On the pool deck, enjoy 2 resort-style pools and 1 sloping beach-entry pool. You can also escape from the young sailors and enjoy the adults-only Solarium pool and bar. Suite guests can take advantage of the Suite Sun Deck’s private pool overlooking the ocean. Spashaway Bay will be returning for kids to have fun with water cannons, slides, fountains and more.
You don’t want to miss all the parties! Utopia of the Seas features 4 different pool party experiences: Hey Utopia, Sail Away Parties, Plunge Pool Party and Senses Pool Party.
Back for more thrills is Perfect Storm Waterslides towering up to three stories high. This trio of slides includes racing slides, Typhoon and Cyclone, as well as Supercell, the massive champagne bowl that spins you around and around.
Another Oasis Class favorite, Ultimate Abyss, is now bigger and faster than ever! The slide is 43 feet longer than any before it and includes zoom booster rollers and transparent racing windows. Royal Caribbean wanted to reclaim the title of having the tallest slide at sea.
Taking kid’s playtime to the next level is Utopia Playscape also bigger and better with a 39 foot Light House slide plus all the action of a ninja course.
Don’t miss the returning Flowrider, twin rock climbing walls, sports court, ice skating rink, Aqua Dunes mini golf, and zipline.
Utopia of the Seas Dining & Bars
Utopia of the Seas has more than 20 unique dining venues including Japanese hibachi, wood-fired pizzas, BBQ and more! You’ll also find 23 spots serving craft cocktails, beer, wines, and cocktails and 5 live music venues.
A fun new complimentary dining option is the poolside food truck, The Spare Tire, serving grab-and-go bites. Try the Royal Crispy Chicken sandwich. Unfortunately, we didn’t find this new venue to be one of our favorites. It’s definitely worth a try though!
The fleet favorite Caribbean bar, Lime & Coconut, now has three locations on the pool deck because we all need easy access to tropical cocktails!
Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar is the returning Italian specialty restaurant serving rustic Italian dishes and now includes the first ever al fresco Gio’s Terraza. Please note that Wonderland is not available on this ship as Giovanni’s has taken over its space. Additional fee applies.
Izumi Hibachi & Sushi now includes a Omakase-inspired dining experience, Izumi Omakase! This is something that I would love to experience, but we couldn’t make it happen on our cruise. The chef-driven menu includes 8 courses such as miso lobster bisque, Edo Nigiri and robata Wagyu beef. Further, the hibachi space has doubled in size allowing more guests to enjoy this dining experience. Additional fee applies.
Izumi in the Park is a new walk-up window serving Izumi favorites including sushi and Japanese inspired street foods. Additional fee applies.
My absolute favorite new experience is the Royal Railway – Utopia Station culinary tour on a locomotive! Utopia Station is the most immersive dining experience at sea combining food, technology and entertainment. Enjoy pre-drinks on the station platform, an adventure set in the golden age of rail travel, and a five-course journey of American favorite flavors of the Wild West. Two train cars can hold 24 guests each with tables for 4 and 2 guests. They can’t move or combine tables due to the nature of the venue. If you have a large party, you’ll be seated at different tables.
The first show or experience on the Royal Railway will be the Wild West. This family friendly experience will initially take place during the early and late seating. The more adults experience, Silk Routes, will debut at a date still to be determined. Silk Routes will take guests from China, India, Prussia, Turkey and Italy. The food will pair with each destination and more information will be released once Silk Routes becomes available. Additional fee applies.
The introductory rate was $74.99 per adult and $24.99 per child and increased to $119.99 per adult and $59.99 per child starting with September 2024 cruises. If you have the Ultimate Dining Package, you will pay a $49.99 surcharge for this restaurant.
Utopia of the Seas welcomed back complimentary options Boardwalk Dog House, Sorrento’s Pizza, El Loco Fresh, Café Promenade, Park Café (with an extended menu), Solarium Bistro, Sprinkles (now with actual sprinkles!), and of course, the Main Dining Room and Windjammer.
Special restaurants The Mason Jar, Chops Grille, Hooked Seafood and, Chefs Table, Jonny Rockets, Sugar Beach, and 150 Central Park will be returning.
The new Pesky Parrot is a Caribbean tiki bar experience serving fruit-forward cocktails and frozen drinks. This fun bar takes the place of the Bionic Bar which has started to get a bit dated, in my opinion. Keep an eye out for the drunk parrot, Brian!
Utopia of the Seas Entertainment
Returning favorite spots for after dark entertainment include: Spotlight Karaoke, Boleros (Latin-themed club), Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, Music Hall, Bell & Barley English Pub, and The Attic comedy club. Don’t miss classic game shows from Friendly Feud to Crazy Quest and more. Plus Music in the Park is located in Central Park with programming including – Strings in the Park, Jazz in the Park and Piano in the Park.

Find parties galore on Utopia of the Seas. There’s a late-night toga party with a silent twist. Borrow a toga (bed sheet) or bring your own Roman costume to this theme dance party featuring 3 different music stations to dance to. ReZolution Dance Party is an “all-new party where guests are encouraged to wear all white as high-power projectors cast images and lights on party-goers, making them the star of the show”.
You’ll also find Royal Kappa Chi: Utopia Chapter which is a collegiate party featuring classic games like water pong, flip cup, and quarters alongside a DJ. Shush! Silent Party will feature three different music stations: Throwback (70s, 80s, 90s hits), Top Hits, and Latin.
Utopia of the Seas Tips
- Make entertainment reservations in advance. These short cruises don’t offer time for as many repeat performances as longer cruises. Entertainment opened about 2 weeks in advance for our cruise that sailed in August. If you can’t make them in advance, log into the ships wifi upon boarding or head to the Box Office to secure reservations on the first day. Spots will fill up! You can also get in line about 30 minutes prior to the show to try to snag seats. You can usually get seats by waiting in line, you will just be entering the venue after those with reservations. If you’re having difficulty with the app, make reservations online. I was able to reserve on the website before I could access within the app.
- Don’t be late for your reservation on the Royal Railway. The train will “leave” the station and you won’t be allowed to take part in the experience if you’re not on time.
- Use a Travel Advisor to book. I’m a Travel Advisor with top-tier Royal Caribbean University training, Masters of Adventure, and personal experience with the brand.
- Breakfast is included at Johnny Rockets. Lunch and dinner will have a fee.
- Is Utopia of the Seas a party ship? Yes and no. There are a lot of parties & music but it’s not like a Carnival party ship. It’s a family-friendly ship with many adult & kids friendly entertainment options. Guests can participate or not. The pool parties take place at the 2 main pools (not the Splashaway Bay and Beach Pool side of Lime & Coconut), so you can avoid those party times if you wish.
- Pack for parties and a formal night. If you’d like to participate, there will be 1 Dress Your Best night and the other 2 or 3 nights will be casual dress plus the optional Caribbean night. Check the app under dining at the 5pm time slot for a listing of the nights attire. The 3 party options include a white party, toga (provided) or being a Roman costume, and a throwback party for your 70s, 80s, 90s gear. If sailing on a 3-night, you won’t have a dress your best night.
- Attire for our 4-night cruise (subject to change):
Night 1 – Casual
Night 2 – Caribbean or Casual
Night 3 – Dress your best
Night 4 – Casual - Consider avoiding these seats at the Royal theatre. The seats on the 2nd level (deck 5) are slanted back making it difficult for kids (and shorter adults) to see the front of the stage. Even my 6ft son had difficulties in the first row on deck 5. You’ll also have your view obstructed by the rail when sitting at that row on deck 4.
- Central Park area and the Boardwalk Balcony staterooms may be louder than usual. I’ve read conflicting information regarding the interior balcony staterooms. Many cruisers have stated that Central Park is loud starting early in the morning even with balcony doors closed. This isn’t typically the case with other Oasis Class ships, but we opted for an Oceanview Balcony just in case. Please share your experiences with us.
- Avoid trying to disembark early. The nature of the shorter cruise is that many guests only bring carry-on size luggage and carry their luggage off the ship during disembarkment. This can create longer wait times for elevators, etc.
- Book Laser Tag once onboard – Check the app after boarding and look for Laser Tag booking options. This is FREE but reservations are required. You should see this available on day 2 while at sea. Laser Tag is played in Studio B. Don’t forget your tennis shoes!
- Bring your own shampoo and conditioner – The product provided is a shampoo & body wash combo. This isn’t great for hair and there is no conditioner provided. Suites have different products.
- Pack your snorkel gear to use at a Perfect Day at CocoCay. This will be another free activity while at Royal’s private island. Head to Chill Island Beach where you’ll usually find plenty of tropical fish near the rocks plus a shipwreck with cannons further out. Save on packing space and leave the fins at home. We just bring a mask and snorkel but you can being fins as well if you prefer. It can get murky with so many cruisers in the water in the late morning/early afternoon. Snorkel early or late for the best chance to see fish.
