Going to France may just be a dream for some, but finding a cheap flight to France can easily make that dream come true. As far as other costs, you have to pay to live somewhere during that time and it may as well be France. Watch your budget when it comes to entertainment and food. Other than that, your only added expense will be the bills you already pay at home, a hotel, and your transportation to and from France.

How to Get a Cheap Flight to France:

Last Minute Deals

Last minute deals are always a great way to save money as long as you can be prepared to leave for France on very short notice. Airlines don’t like to have empty seats because they have to pay the expense of the flight whether the seats are full or not. Obviously they make more money if the seats are full. By selling you last minute tickets for a low rate that can at least recover some of their money. The downside is that you may not get the seat you want. You might also have to travel in a section that you don’t want to, like economy class instead of first class.

This is not likely to be the best option to save money if you’re traveling as a family.  Getting seats together will be difficult and it can be a very long flight if you’re sitting in between 2 strangers.  However, when we flew to France our original flight was cancelled.  We were squeezed in on a flight the next day, but were unable to get seat assignments until everyone else on the plan had boarded.  It was extremely stressful not knowing if we would be able to sit together.  In the end, they managed to get us 4 seats in the same row since we had younger children.  I would never want to go through that uncertainty again, though!

Points and Miles

Many companies offer points in the hopes that they will never be cashed in. You may be able to get a cheap flight to France just because you clicked on the right amount of emails or made purchases using the right credit card. Don’t forget about frequent flyer miles either. Those can really add up. If you or your spouse travel frequently for business, you may have enough miles to get cheap flight to France with very little effort.

We have a Bank of America Travelers credit card.  We earn points on all our purchases that can be “cash in” to be used towards a travel purchase.  We plan to use these points to further reduce our expense when we return to France in January.

Use Travel Sites

There are a lot of sites on the Internet which can help you get a great deal on flights. You may be able to score a cheap flight to France by using one of these sites. The best way to get the best deal is to play around with the calendar feature and compare different sites. You can often get better deals because you plan to visit during the off season. The benefit of traveling during the off season is that you get a cheaper flight and you won’t be surrounded by other tourists.

It may be easier than you think to get a cheap flight to France. You may have to adjust your expectations and deal with a few things along the way, but it can be done. With a little effort on your part, you can make your dream vacation to France a reality.
