Whether you’re a college student on a budget or a parent who needs to afford a trip for the whole family, cheap spring break travel options are always a great idea. You want to have fun without spending a fortune! Here are a few ideas to help you create that perfect but affordable spring break vacation.

Cheap Spring Break Travel Ideas:

Avoid the Most Popular Beaches – Cancun, Daytona Beach, and South Padre Island are among the most popular spring break choices for college students, which means that most of the time, the prices for hotels, airfare, and other accommodations are going to be more expensive. Consider Biloxi, Pensacola Beach, or Myrtle Beach for cheaper alternatives. There are still plenty of things to see and do in these cities, but it won’t cost you nearly as much to do them.

Plan a Staycation – There is no rule that says you have to fly somewhere for spring break. Consider booking a hotel room somewhere close to where you live to escape the everyday routine of home. You can take this time to see some of the local attractions that you haven’t had the chance to visit yet.

Book Your Travel Early – Waiting until a few weeks before spring break means you will either pay too much for tickets and hotel rooms or you won’t be able to book at all. Plan your trip a few months in advance, so you can keep an eye out for travel deals and book your travel when it is the cheapest. If you do wait until the last minute, do some online shopping to look for last minute deals. Generally, you can find discounts a few days before your trip. This is because hotels and airlines reduce rates in order to fill empty spots on their reservation lists.

Travel with a Group – Many college students travel in groups to enjoy big discounts on hotels and airfare. If you are a student, stop by your school’s student union to see if any travel agencies are offering group rates for your trip. Even if you aren’t enrolled in the local college, you may still be eligible to travel with the school’s spring break group.

Spring break doesn’t have to cost a fortune. You can still have a great time by using these cheap spring break travel ideas. Be sure to plan ahead and choose your destination wisely. When you have more money in your pocket, you will be able to shop and dine without worrying about your budget.

Great tips! I am always traveling on a budget so this post is definitely something I will be looking back at when I plan my next trip! As Robert Frost once said, I prefer to take the road less traveled, so traveling to popular areas is something I too have tried to stay away from. Great tips, thank you for sharing!
