Adult Summer Getaways

Sometimes you just need a break from the children. Adult summer getaways let you enjoy your vacation without children whether they are your own or not. There are plenty of resorts and spas that understand your needs to be alone. Now you just need to learn how to find those places and what to expect when you get there. Here are some tips to make sure you end up with exactly what you are wanting in an adult summer getaway:

Define Children

You really have to set your parameters here. Many resorts advertise that they are adult only resorts, but actually allow children. You won’t have to deal with crying babies or toddlers running rampant. On the other hand, you may be subject to the fast talking teen chatter and constant texting that teens do. Some adult only resorts consider children 13 and older to be adult enough to attend the resorts. Even if you like teenagers, you may not want to be around them while trying to enjoy your adult time.

Be sure to find out the exact age requirements before you sign up to go to a spa or resort that may not be what you think it is.

Outside the US

If you want to vacation outside the US, know that there are plenty of adult summer getaways to be found. Some of these adult only places are also great place to visit in the winter time, so be sure to mark your calendar for their specials. The most common places where you can find these getaways include Cancun, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. All of these places offer a tropical paradise. Since you won’t have to worry about children, you can sit back and enjoy the atmosphere worry free.

Inside the US

There are some places in the US where adults can get a way for a vacation. Las Vegas and the Florida Keys are some great places to go for adult time. The US Virgin Islands offer a great escape for adults, though you need to make sure to specify whether you want a place where teens are allowed or not.

As you pursue your quest for adult summer getaways, leave the guilt behind. There is a time and place for family time. Couples who forget to date because they get so busy being parents often benefit from some time away from the children. In the end, this benefits the entire family as a whole. If you don’t happen to have children, there is no reason why you should have to spend your vacation surrounded by them.

On a Budget

If you want to get away but need to stay within a tight budget, consider a hotel room close to home.  Find a special on a site such as Groupon and get away for the weekend.  Go out to eat and stroll through the area hand in hand.  You can still enjoy the benefits of being together for less money.  Hubs and I have tried spending time just the two of us as home, but that doesn’t usually work out well.  We usually end up doing errands or cleaning instead of relaxing.  However, if that is all your time and budget allows, any time spent just the 2 of you will do wonders for your marriage.

What are your favorite spots for taking adult summer getaways?
