Can Segura Hotel Restaurant review

Can Segura Hotel Restaurant in Sant Feliu de Guíxols

We continued moving North along the coast in our quest to experience all that Costa Brava has to offer.  Our next meal was lunch at the Can Segura Hotel Restaurant in the village of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

The restaurant in the Can Segura Hotel has an adorable beach vibe. The striking blue table cloths and beach decor made for a relaxing dining experience.  We sat in a cozy corner booth with colorful pillows surrounding the walls creating the perfect ambiance for eating great food and enjoying great conversation.

The kids sat together along the back wall laughing and chatting away while the adults discussed which of the tempting foods to try.

Salmon Salad at Can Segura Hotel Restaurant

Fish Soup at Can Segura Hotel Restaurant

The fixed price lunch menu was only 12.50€ which is a fantastic price considering the quality of food. Derrick started with amandia de salmó amb vinagreta de módena, salmon salad, and I had sopa de peix, fish soup. Both were deliciously fresh starters.

I’d seen fish soup on many of the menus in Spain and finally worked up the courage to give it a try.  It wasn’t at all what I expected.  Of my family, I tend to be the most cautious eater.  Thankfully, I threw away my inhibitions, tried a new food and found a new favorite!

Hamburger at Can Segura Hotel Restaurant

Derrick went classic American with hamburguesa casolana or homemade hamburger with fries for his entree.  I was surprised he didn’t try a fish entree.  Maybe he needed a little taste of home.

Noodle Paella with alliloi at Can Segura Hotel Restaurant

I ate a paella with a different twist.  Peus de porc a la graella amb all-i-oli is paella with noodles instead of rice and with Allioli sauce. If you haven’t tried Allioli sauce, you should. Combine garlic, olive oil, salt and lemon juice to create a divine dip for seafood, meat or vegetables.

I can’t decide if I prefer paella with noodles or rice. The noodles are definitely lighter and don’t leave you feeling overfull , but rice just seems more traditional.  K isn’t a rice fan, so he thought the noodle version was best.

Creme Catalun at Can Segura Hotel Restaurant

Soft cheese dessert at Can Segura Hotel Restaurant

For dessert, I again choose crema catalana and Derrick had a soft cheese with orange marmalade that I can’t find the exact name of now.  If you’re a cheese fan, it’s something you might want to consider when eating at the Can Segura Hotel Restaurant.

Fried fish at Can Segura Hotel Restaurant

Here’s peek at some of the other meals served.  Our tour guides had 2 fish entrees – sardines and I believe the other fried fish was peix costa fregit.

Ice cream for dessert at Can Segura Hotel Restaurant

K had the croquettes and Lucy went for a burger. The kids had ice cream sandwiches made with 2 wafers. They all agreed dessert was awesome!

Cafe pick me up at Can Segura Hotel Restaurant

We finished off lunch with a cafe. I needed a zap of caffeine after all the food and wine!

We loved this little restaurant and have even discussed the possibility of staying in the hotel when we return to Costa Brava next year.  The hotel is centrally located, and I wouldn’t complain about taking the short walk downstairs for what I can only assume would be an amazing breakfast.

My family was invited as guests to experience the food, atmosphere and family-friendliness of the restaurant.  All opinions are 100% my own and may differ from others.

All of these dishes look delicious, especially the desserts, of course! I think I’d go for ice cream sandwiches and paella as well.

The fish entrees look good. Quite intrigued by paella with noodles though. Don’t think I saw any paella with noodle option in the menus when I was in Spain. Or maybe I didn’t look at the menu hard enough.

The options was only at a few restaurants we dined. It’s a nice choice for something different.
